Cyprien Gaillard has created a limited edition titled O (The Empty Hollow), which was also an eponymous group of works in his KUB summer exhibition 2026. With them, Gaillard draws on the legend of The Pied Piper of Hamelin, thematizing the ambivalent nature of music, which fluctuates between seduction and deterrence. O (The Empty Hollow) are mouthpieces for transverse flutes that are fitted with zero-euro banknotes–rolled up like cigarette paper or straws used for consuming drugs. Genuine bills issued by the European Central Bank, they depict the Pied Piper and the town of Hamelin. O (The Empty Hollow) thus symbolically intert-wine music with the illusion of possession, seduction, and intoxication.
