Helmut Ritter, printer and publisher from Klagenfurt and a noted member oft he Austrian cultural scene with his ambitious program of art books and catalogues, built a private art gallery in connection with new spaces for his press and publishing company. The gallery was to point the way to an international exhibition future in the Carinthian region. Concept and design for this art gallery are by the German sculptor Franz Erhard Walther. Walther here has the chance to computerbalance the conditions, widely criticized among artists, generally given the presentation of contemporary art. The representative exhibition space is one of the few examples of new building for art in Austria and is impressive in its clarity and functional resolve.
