Already years ago, the German artist Gerhard Merz (born 1947) placed »Ed io anche sono architetto« (And I am also an architect) on one of his script-pictures. A generous builder in Hartha near Dresden offered him the chance to realize his architectonic ideas of body, space and light as a union of classical simplicity and repetition as well as pure material and highest technical perfection. This volume documents the building, completed in 1997, with a photo sequence by Jörg von Bruchhausen and a text by Ute Riese.
